My Calendars Through The Years
After giving and receiving moon calendars for years, in 2017 I decided to make my own. Take a ride through memory lane with to see how my calendars have evolved through the years!
2018 - My First Year!
After a Thanksgiving conversation with family about moon calendars, I thought - I could make those! I came home and spent the next many hours creating these. I painted the backgrounds and drew each moon. It was a satisfying experience but very challenging!
2019
After individual months I missed the visual impact of seeing the whole year and the patterns that appear across the months. I made individual stamps for each phase which made the process much more enjoyable - however getting it printed was not. Turns out scanning and printing such a large poster was quite challenging.
2020
After the printing challenges for the previous year I went back to the original month design. This year was a combination of stamping the moons and hand drawing individual designs for each month.
2021
I went back to more color! Each month was a different unique color I painted before stamping and hand drawing the design.
2022
I wanted to lean into the print making process and explore making the whole design with a linocut. I carved unique designs for each month and then printed each month. I loved the texture the printing created!
2023
I wanted to explore options as many folks were still appreciating the colored backgrounds from 2021. I did the same format as the year before and leaned into theme for the centers - trees of New Hampshire.
2024
After years of creating one original, scanning, editing, and getting prints made I decided to take the plunge to print them all myself. This required carving each month as a complete block and printing over 500+ pages. It was more work but I appreciated getting to do it all myself! I liked the theme for designs and decided to do vegetables.
